MAXINE BREAD FLOUR
MAXINE BREAD FLOUR
Milled from Maxine Hard Red Winter Wheat grown at Weatherbury Farm (see the Maxine Wheat growing in the field !)
Bread made with Maxine Flour has been called “life affirming” by eater.com.
Use in: breads (pan, quick & sourdough), rolls, muffins, bagels, crackers, pizza crusts, and pasta.
Please Note: Maxine makes a flavorful sourdough bread, which may be denser than the sourdough bread you may be used to. Please see our article on baking sourdough bread with Weatherbury Farm Flours. Our Glenn bread flour provides the loftiest sourdough loaf of all our flours.
Stone Ground Organic Maxine Whole Bread Flour — Ground in one pass and sifted through a very coarse sieve so that any very large pieces of bran are removed. Hearty stone-ground flour with only the coarsest bran removed. Coarser than sifted flour. Just like Weatherbury’s sifted flour, this flour is not bleached.

Sifted through a fine sieve and ground in multiple passes. The flour contains the grain’s natural flavor and has a golden color (It is not artificially bleached as many commercial white flours are).

Storing Weatherbury Farm Products
Storing Weatherbury Farm Products
Flours, Rolled Products & Berries:
Weatherbury flours, rolled products or berries are real food and insects find them tasty.
They should be stored in the refrigerator. If you will not be using immediately, keep in the freezer, especially in warm weather.
We have had reports from customers that even after two years they still work and taste great. We wouldn’t, however, recommend storing them that long.
Although there are organic pesticides, we do not use them, either on the grains in the field or the products we mill.
If you store the flours, rolled products or berries in a tightly lidded bucket, you will open your bucket and find bugs slipping into what you thought was an impenetrable space. If you have been storing organic flours, milled products & berries in a lidded bucket and there are no bugs, then an organic pesticide has been used.
Beans:
Keep the beans in a cool, dark, dry place. Dry beans will, over time, take longer to cook (but they still have great flavor).
